Blackbird Calling

Once a poem, there was a blackbird and a person in the woods.

Through the golden sky, I hear you call.

Blackbird, I hear your tweet,
shrill and tall.

I wander through the grass, the trees.
I wonder with my ears, my mind.

I bring my noise, my footfall, my voice.
I bring you my sight, my ears, my choice.

To listen to you, to hear you, to watch you.
To see you in the depth of the branches, too.

Daily joy to behold, with you and me,
in the woods of this world, there is glee.

Blackbird, I hear your tweet,
shrill and tall.

Through the golden sky, I hear you call.
